Multi-Selection Bets, Popular

As discussed in the Easy Threesy section, there are many multiple selection bets that you can place, either to cover a risky selection or simply to boost your odds and amount you can win, there are over 30 different types of these bets and I’ll round up a few of the more popular ones here.

Yankee

A Yankee consists of 4 selections, like before we’ll use ABCD as the selections, with a Yankee you are placing 11 bets consisting of; 6 doubles (AB,AC,AD,BC,BD,CD,) 4 trebles (ABC,ABD,BCD,ACD,) and finally the 4-four fold itself (ABCD.) The benefit of a Yankee is that even if 2 selections let you down you’ll still be making some money. Here’s some examples.

Horse A – Evens (2.0)

Horse B – Evens (2.0)

Horse C – 3/1 (4.0)

Horse D – 9/1 (10.0)

Now if all the selections win and you had put a stake of let’s say £10 on the 4-fold alone, you’ll be looking at a big win of £1590.00. That’s all well and good, however with a 9/1 horse in there it is very possible that 1 selection of 4 could let you down. You may instead consider a Yankee as a cover bet which will win you a profit of £418.50 should all the horses win and you may kick yourself if this happens. However, let’s assume that horse D ( the longshot ) loses, this way you will make £22.50 profit compared with a big fat zero if you only put the 4-fold on. A great bet to use if there is a selection with longer odds in your choices.

Super Yankee

A Super Yankee is exactly the same process as a Yankee except with 5 selections giving you 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 four-folds and a 5-fold accumulator. Used again as a cover bet if there is a couple of risky selections in your choices, there are better options out there than this bet, very much a bookmakers lure for you to spend more money, the returns on this bet if you lose even 1 selections are drastically reduced.

Goliath

A Goliath is a bet on 8 selections that consists of 247 bets, 21 doubles, 56 trebles, 70 fourfoulds, 56 fivefolds, 28 sixfolds, 8 sevenfold and a big 8 fold. You have to win at least 2 selections before you will win anything. A friend of mine used to pick 8 football matches per week and predict the correct score. He’d put a Goliath on and some weeks he’d lose, some he’d break even or even make a tidy profit, 4 times out of 28 weeks he missed out on a £30,000 plus win by just one selection. It is somewhat of a throwaway bet but it’s worth a dabble if you’re feeling lucky.
